Captain app for waiters
A captain ordering app on your waiters' own phones
A captain ordering app lets your waiter take the order at the table and send it straight to the kitchen, with no paper pad and no walk to the counter. In EETS Partner, captains use their own Android phone, and they can tap the mic and simply say the order. It comes with the Restaurant plan at ₹3,999 a year, and every restaurant starts with 6 months free.
- ₹0 commission
- ₹2,999 a year onwards
- No new hardware
- Works offline
What a captain ordering app actually fixes
Follow a paper order on a busy night. The captain writes it, walks to the counter, waits for the cashier to type it in, and only then does the kitchen hear about it. Somewhere on that walk an item gets missed, a handwritten 2 becomes a 3, or an extra roti goes to the table and never reaches the bill. Multiply that by forty tables and you have slow food, wrong food and leaking money.
We run a South Indian restaurant in Bengaluru, THE NAAATI, and we lived with all of this. The fix is simple: enter the order once, at the table, and send it to the kitchen and the bill together. That is the whole job of a captain ordering app. The rest is making it fast enough that captains prefer it to paper.
No double entry
The captain enters the order once. The kitchen ticket and the table's running bill come from that one entry, so the counter never retypes anything.
No lost KOTs
The order reaches the kitchen as a printed KOT for each station or a ticket on the kitchen screen, not a slip that falls behind the tawa.
No unbilled items
Whatever the captain sends to the kitchen is already on the table's bill. Removing it later needs a manager's PIN and is logged.
How order taking works in the EETS captain app
Order taking on a phone has to be quicker than writing, or captains quietly go back to the pad. This is the flow in the EETS captain ordering app, the order taking app for restaurant floors that we use ourselves.
The captain opens the floor-wise table map, with sections like main hall, terrace, AC room or rooftop, and taps the table. Free, ordering, cooking, eating and bill-asked tables show in different colours.
They add dishes from your menu with quantities and sizes, or tap the mic and say the order out loud.
They send it to the kitchen. The KOT prints at the right station, or appears on the kitchen display, or both.
When the table wants two more filter coffees, the captain adds them to the same table and a new KOT goes out for just those items.
When the guests ask for the bill, the counter already has every item. A GST bill is three taps away, and guests can pay by cash, card, UPI or split.
Voice ordering: say the order instead of typing it
Typing on a small screen while a guest reads out six dishes is where most waiter apps lose the captain. So the EETS captain app has voice ordering. The captain taps the mic and says something like two masala dosa, one filter coffee, and the dishes, quantities and sizes are added to the order. The captain checks the list on screen and sends it.
This matters most for new staff. A captain who joined last week does not yet know where every dish sits in the menu, but they can say what the guest said. Captains can still tap dishes by hand whenever that is quicker.
Waiter app features that matter on a busy floor
A waiter app in India has to survive crowded floors, weak signal in the AC room, staff who change often and owners who are not always on site. These parts of EETS are built for that.
Alerts on locked phones
When a guest presses call waiter from their phone, or a new QR order arrives, staff phones ring even when the screen is locked.
Own PIN for every captain
Owner, manager, cashier and captain each sign in with their own PIN, so every order and every change has a name on it.
Join by scanning a QR
Add a new captain by having them scan a one-time QR. No passwords to share, and their phone is ready in a minute.
Keeps working offline
If the internet drops, orders and KOTs are saved on the phone first and sync to every other device as soon as the connection is back.
An anti-theft log
Removed items, cancelled KOTs and discounts land in a log nobody can edit or delete, not even the owner. Risky actions need a manager's PIN.
Bring your own phone
Any Android phone on Android 8.0 or later works as a captain phone. There is no special handset to buy.
Captains, QR ordering and the counter on one system
Many restaurants now mix captain service with QR ordering from the guest's own phone. In EETS both feed the same table. A guest can scan the table QR, order, and later the captain can add a dessert to that same table. The kitchen sees one stream of KOTs and the counter sees one bill.
Guests can also call the waiter, ask for water or ask for the bill from their phone, and that request rings on staff phones. To stop double orders, the first phone that orders holds the table. Other phones at the table ask to join, and your staff approve them. Captains stay in charge of the floor instead of chasing duplicate tickets.
If you prefer full captain service with no QR at all, the captain ordering app works perfectly well on its own.
What a captain app costs, and what it does not do
Captain phones are part of the Restaurant plan and the Restaurant Max plan. The Café plan is meant for a counter and one more phone, so it does not include captain phones. Every plan begins with 6 months free on Restaurant Max, so you can try captain ordering, the kitchen display and QR ordering together before you pay anything.
To be straight about the limits: EETS runs on Android only, so captains with iPhones cannot use it. There are no table reservations, and no Zomato or Swiggy order integration. A Windows and web dashboard is coming soon.

Questions
Questions owners ask
What is a captain ordering app?
It is an app your waiters, often called captains, use on a phone to take the order at the table. The order goes straight to the kitchen as a KOT and onto the table's bill, so nobody walks to the counter with a paper slip and nothing needs to be typed twice. In EETS Partner it runs on your staff's own Android phones.
Can waiters use their own phones as the waiter app?
Yes. Any Android phone on Android 8.0 or later can be a captain phone. The waiter scans a one-time QR to join your restaurant, sets a PIN, and the phone is ready. There is no iPhone app, so captains need an Android phone. Each phone counts toward your plan's device limit.
How does voice ordering work?
The captain taps the mic and says the order, for example two masala dosa, one filter coffee. EETS adds the dishes, quantities and sizes to the order. The captain checks the list on the screen and sends it to the kitchen. They can always tap dishes by hand instead if that is faster for a particular order.
Does the captain app work without internet?
Orders and KOTs are saved on the phone first, so a drop in the connection does not lose anything. Everything syncs to the counter, kitchen display and other phones as soon as the connection returns. QR ordering from guests' phones is different: it needs the internet because the order comes from the guest's own phone.
Which EETS plan includes the captain app?
Captain phones come with the Restaurant plan at ₹3,999 a year for 6 devices and the Restaurant Max plan at ₹4,999 a year for 15 devices across up to 3 outlets. The Café plan does not include captain phones. Your first 6 months run on Restaurant Max for free, so you can try it fully.
Can a waiter delete an item after sending it to the kitchen?
Removing items and cancelling KOTs are treated as risky actions. They need a manager's PIN, and each one is recorded in an anti-theft log that nobody can edit or delete, not even the owner. You can see who removed what and who approved it, which stops quiet changes after the food has gone out.
